The Summary Of The Beautiful White Horse Written By William Saroyan

Aram and Mourad were cousins. They were poor. Their family was famous for honesty. Mourad was so crazy for horses. Every family has a streak in their nature and Mourad was one. Before him, there was their uncle named Khosrove. He was large man with big head, black hair and a big mustache. He was always very angry and impatient.

If anyone talks, he says, “No harm, pay no attention to it”. One day Mourad came to Aram’s house early in the morning on a horse. He woke him up and offered Aram a ride. Aram understood that his cousin had stolen the horse. Finally he felt that stealing a horse for a ride was not the same as stealing something else such as money. He thought that it would become staling only when they offered it or sale. Their house was at the outskirts of the town. They went for a ride to the field which has orchards, vineyards.

The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse

Mourad had taken rides and later Aram also rode on the horse but it dropped him down and ran away. If took half an hour for Mourad to find the horse and bring it back. By that time the whole village was awake. Mourad wanted to hide the horse in a barn. Then Aram came to know that Mourad had been riding for a long time. Aram requested.

Beautiful White Horse Summary
That afternoon John Byro visited Aram’s house. He told Aram’s mother that his white horse was stolen a month back and he was badly in need of it. When the farmer went away Aram ran to Mourad .he told Mourad of the farmer’s visit and pointed out that John Byro wanted his horse. He requested Mourad not to take it back until he learnt riding. Mourad objected. It was finally decided that the horse should go back to its rightful owner in six months at the least.

For two weeks the two cousins had morning rides. One morning on his way to town John Byro came across the cousins. He identified his horse. As the fame of their family for honesty was well known to him, John Byro did not accuse them of stealing. But he told them that if he had not known their parents he would swear it was his horse but he said it must be the twin of his horse.
The indirect remark made the cousins feel shy for what they had done. The very next morning they took the horse back to John Byro’s vineyard and put it there.

beautiful white horse question and answers

1. How did Aram justify his cousin’s way of getting hold of a horse? Why did he think it was not stealing at all? Do you agree with Aram’s  views?
Ans. Aram justified his cousin’s way of getting hold of a horse. He said that stealing a horse for a ride was not the same as stealing something else such as money.
Aram felt that it would not become stealing until they offered it for sale. We cannot agree with this view because stealing is taking some other’s property without his knowledge, whatever may be the purpose.
